Erasmus+

For children and young people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other special needs, it is sometimes not easy to integrate into a regular sports club. In Judo, we try to do something about this: In special Judo groups, children and young people with ASD are cared for professionally and according to their needs.

Judo offers children with ASD the opportunity to participate in sport in a very structured setting with fixed routines. Through the combination of Judo game forms, Judo techniques and a lot of patience, a secure basis for learning is created. Our experience shows that Judo training, in a safe environment, led by Judo coaches with expertise in autism, can have a positive impact on social, emotional and motor development.

As part of an Erasmus+ project, the positive effect of Judo on children and young people with autism is currently being scientifically investigated in Sweden, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Switzerland, among other countries. The Swiss Judo Association is taking part in this study.

The Swiss Adaptive Judo Association is working in partnership with the Swiss Judo Federation on this research project.

We are happy to invite children and young people with ASD and other Special Needs with special structuring needs to our Judo lessons. We are also happy to consider a separate offer for special schools and HPS.
